Shining Star!

Blaine was chosen to be the Shining Star student for his class this past month. This is an award that is given each month. The teacher picks one Shining Star, chosen for showing some form of academic achievement in the class and one Bright Star, chosen for showing kind behavior. The school had an award ceremony followed by a little reception for the students and their parents. Blaine was most excited about the refreshments afterward. Another mother there told me that it was really an honor and a big deal to be chosen for the very first month of school. We are so proud of Blaine!

His teacher this year is absolutely fabulous! She keeps me updated on Blaine often and will send me emails when he does something cute or funny. For open house night she had even put together a picture slide show with music so that the parents could see what the kids do while they are at school! A few comments his teacher has emailed me this year:

"He makes me laugh! He's such a little man in a little boy's body!!"

"Blaine just asked me if Davy Crockett lived during the Cold War. He makes me laugh!"

I am just thrilled with Blaine's new school and teacher. He is having a wonderful year, despite being the new kid. The other day I was asking him what a child's name was. In an exasperated tone he stated "There are 23 students in Mrs. Reidy's class and 23 students in Mrs. Rigg's class. There is no way I can know all of their names!" On another occasion he told me that almost all the boys look alike to him because they all have buzzed hair cuts. Oh my little man!
