Well, this is our very caterpillar. Melanie, a friend from work, has a little girl who loves bugs as much as Blaine. They apparently grow parsley, and as a result have frequent caterpillars. She brought us this one about two weeks ago. It had just cocooned and should be turning into a butterfly very soon (hopefully!). Aislin was more excited about the cocoon than Blaine which surprised me. Right away after bringing home the cocoon Aislin ran the get her "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" book. She took the task very seriously as she began to read to the potential butterfly. She started at the beginning explaining to the cocooned object how it began life as a catepillar, and then how it ate and ate and ate until it was full, and that one day it would be "a beautiful butterfly". Then she closed the book and in the process knocked the container housing the cocoon clear off the wall. If the potential butterfly is able to survive the fall we shall name it "Humpty Dumpty"!
