Market Day 2011

Every year the 2nd grade class has a market day at Blaine and Aislin's school. The kids have to come up with a product they can make (or help make), then promote the product and eventually sell the product on market day. All 2nd grade students have the opportunity to earn "bucks" to spend at the event in order to by each others wares. At the event they have little "open/closed" signs they make to display while they either work or shop.

After discussing several ideas, Blaine and I came up with doggie shaped sugar cookies. We made the sign with pictures of him and the dogs. They turned out pretty cute. However, most people expected them to be dog cookies, for dogs. We may need to tuck that idea away for Aislin. People seemed slightly disappointed that the cookies weren't for the dogs. There were a lot of baked goods, hand made art and jewelry, painted rocks and sea shell necklaces. The child next to Blaine was selling globs of goo and those seemed to be a really big hit. I'll be interested to see what Aislin decides when her turn comes. Here are some pictures of Blaine setting up, advertising, and selling his cookies:
